Kings Quay, Gulf of Mexico
Subsea 7 selected NASNet® to provide field wide acoustic positioning throughout Murphy Oil’s Kings Quay field. The array was used for subsea positioning of a range of structures and infield lines using combination of NASNet® VTRx for ROV tracking and MTRx for remote positioning.
An array consisting of 17 NASNet® stations was installed to cover the main development field, with additional NASNet® MS beacons at associated remote locations, and various NASNet® MTrx and VTrx systems for structure and ROV positioning.
NASNet® station deployment completed with single lift deployment, and station calibrations undertaken using an autonomous surface vessel. Both contributing to a significantly reduced time for installation of the array.
NASNet® MS stations were used to provide continuous touch down monitoring of pipes, giving confidence that the pipe did not move. LIDAR metrologies demonstrated excellent correlation with NASNet® measurements, with a difference of 12 mm.
